I
was sold to several other guys. One of these idiots covered me in an arbitrary white, as I
already mentioned, and did a bad job, paint-tears all over my body. And probably another
one installed a wrong water-pump from my smaller
brother 180 or 190. Despite this, I
stayed in fairly good and complete conditions. ![]() I don't know how many owners went by, but at the beginning of the 80's I was sold to this nice man in Santa Barbara. He maintained me well and gave me shelter in a garage. He also gave me a new clutch and piston-rings as well as a new oil-pump. But I guess, after a while he got bored with me and he stored me for nearly ten years in a huge warehouse. In early 1990 he probably run out of money and sold me to a German tourist who took me home to Germany. That was the worst time in my life! I just hate ships, they sway and you never feel really safe. But fortunately did I reach home-land in Bremen complete and undamaged. I guess , my owner at the time wanted to make a little profit with my still acceptable appearance. But nobody wanted me and I spend more than a year in a old, moist garage somewhere in the darkest corner of the Sauerland. This place is only known to native Sauerländern as Valbert. Shortly after new-year's eve in 1992 the owner and a handsome young man came to tow me off my refuge and put me back on duty again. It took a while 'till I felt my power coming back, but after 1000 m of towing, I drove on my own. They brought me to a nearby town called Kierspe and I realized that I was sold again. I was very lucky, because this new fellow gave me a complete and thorough restoration from scratch. |
